You may want to look up an old mobile robot built by the Mitsubishi
Electric Company many years ago, called "Meldog."  It was a seeing-eye
dog for the blind.  Experimental.  Only one was built, as far as I
know.  Never saw any reports on how it worked, how well it worked, or
whether it was of any value to the disabled or was just another
expensive robotic publicity stunt.  Well, even stunts have their place.

If anyone on the net have any better information about it, please
post, don't reply to me, so we can all learn.
