I have done some work on the human hand, trying to mimic the skeleton
sturture with inexpensive plastic pieces and tied together with high
strength fibers or "ligaments". I will send you a photo of what I have. 
 
The most important resource I used was Kapanji (sp?) , a three volume set
explaining the workings of the human body in mechanical terms. It is
available in French and English, I don't know about German.
 
What is happening in Tubingen that would start such a heroic undertaking?
