People,

I'm doing some research on the state-of-the-art and practice of table
processing in electronic texts. I'm specifically interested in work that
has been done on "understanding" tables -- rather than, say, work on
recognizing tables. That is, I'm interested in work that asks questions
about whether we can infer anything about the meaning of tables, given
that we have an electronic representation of them.

I do, of course, realize that this is a hard problem, but any pointers
to published work or research in progress would be greatly appreciated.

Please email me if you have any information.

Thanks in advance, Richard
