Summary: propose "principals only" policy for job postings

There has been a fair amount of discussion in this group about whether
people want to see job postings or not. If the number of dubious,
irrelevant, clueless, and misleading postings from recruiters
continues to increase the balance will certainly shift towards
rejecting all job discussions in this group. I propose that we adopt
a "principals only" policy: very simply, if you personally are looking
for a job or you are announcing an opening in your group, company, or
organization you are welcome to post here. If you are selling anyone
else's services or offering positions for something which you are not
a part of, especially if you will profit by succeeding, you are
cordially asked to post your openings to the traditional jobs
newsgroups. I believe this would strike an appropriate balance,
allowing people and jobs to match themselves up without a lot of
commercial advertising and noise getting in the way of the more
technical discussions that are the primary purpose of this newsgroup.

I write this as a participant in this newsgroup and in no way
represent the views or positions of my former client and now employer
Millennium Pharmaceuticals.
