First off, we'd like to thank everyone for their cooperation in the
recycling effort. It has been very successful and things have smoothed out
considerably. We've still been receiving a few questions about what does and
what does not belong in the mixed paper stream, which I'm sure is no
surprise to anyone. Here are a few clarifications and reminders about what
can be recycled as mixed paper (as opposed to the high grade paper):

	MIXED PAPER
	___________

	ruled paper
paper with color logos (e.g. the 8.5 x 11 news)
	envelopes with gummed labels
	CMU Schedule of Classes
Outer package for copy paper (Kodak or Hammermill)

	TRASH
	_____

	glossy paper (silky, smooth paper)
golden brown envelopes (reuse when possible)
transparencies (no plastic of any sort!)
	newsprint (e.g. the Tartan)

Also cardboard should never be placed in the mixed paper bins.
Corrugated cardboard can be left in the hallway and will be picked up for
recycling if marked.

As always, any questions or suggestions should be directed to recycle@cs.

A clarification for the clarification:

Instead of envelopes, I meant to say paper with gummed labels on them
(often from campus mailings) should go in the mixed paper stream.
Of course, envelopes with gummed labels also go in the mixed paper bins.
