OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -- Lamond Murray had 18 points and broke the California single-season scoring record as the Bears knocked off cold-shooting Oregon State 74-44 Saturday. In what may have been the last home game for Murray, a junior, and sophomore teammate Jason Kidd -- both are likely candidates to enter the NBA draft -- neither player spent much time on the court after the Bears (21-6 overall, 12-4 Pac-10) opened a 37-10 halftime lead. After making a hook shot with 11:55 to play for a 50-19 lead, Murray took a seat alonside Kidd, who was ailing from a stomach virus. Murray's 651 points beat the old mark of 649 set in 1989 by Leonard Taylor. Cal's lead eventually reached 36 points, 74-38, on a layup by Olatunji Dean with 1:23 to play. Oregon State (6-19, 2-14) has lost six straight and 11 of 12. The Beavers, 0-10 away from home, ended their first winless road season since 1950. Their last six losses have been by an average of 25 points. Kidd played just 15 minutes and scored two points with a game-high five assists. He spent the first five minutes of game on the bench, and the Bears shot 1-for-5 with three turnovers in their first eight possessions without him. The score at that point was just 2-2. Oregon State missed 19 of its first 20 shots and still managed to stay in the game, trailing only 16-6 with 9:00 left in the first half. But over the next six minutes, California ran off 15 straight points while the Beavers missed another nine shots in a row. Michael Stewart's layup with 3:00 to play put Cal up 31-6. Only a pair of inside baskets by Kareem Anderson and Bobby Edwards in the final two minutes brought the Beaver total to 10 by halftime. Murray closed out the half with a put-back and fade-away jumper, giving Cal a 37-10 lead. Shot selection contributed heavily to Oregon State's meager 13 perecent (4-for-32) first-half shooting. The Beavers missed 12 straight 3-point attempts until David Drakeford drained one with 14:00 remaining in the game. The Beavers shot just 23 percent (16-for-70) for the game. Jerohn Brown, their leading scorer with 12, was 1-for-12 from the field. Michael Stewart added 15 rebounds and four blocked shots for Cal, while Monty Buckley had 16 points.
