ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Lamond Murray scored 13 of his 23 points in the second half and Jason Kidd had 22 points and eight assists Sunday to lead No. 19 California to an 89-80 victory over No. 23 Cincinnati. Kidd made four free throws in the final 1:43 and Murray and Monty Buckley also delivered key baskets down the stretch as the Golden Bears (18-5) won for the eighth time in nine games. Cincinnati (17-8) played its fifth consecutive game against a Top 25 opponent and fell to 2-3 in those outings despite getting a career-high 26 points from Damon Flint and 17 from fellow freshman Dontonio Wingfield. California shot 57 percent from the field and also outscored Cincinnati 16-5 from the foul line where Kidd was 7-for-7, including the four he made after the Bears' lead was trimmed to 79-73. Ryan Jamison scored 18 points for California and Buckley and Michael Stewart each had 10. Cincinnati shot only 38 percent from the field in the first half, but Flint's 15 points and defense on Kidd helped the Bearcats keep pace. It was 36-36 at the half, and neither team could gain the upper hand until Kidd sparked a 9-2 spurt that put California up 60-53 with 12:47 to go. The Bearcats never drew closer than six points the rest of the way. Monty Buckley's layup and two free throws by Kidd hiked Cal's lead back to 10, 83-73, with 1:43 left. Cincinnati, 3-6 against Top 25 opponents, was hurt by the lack of offense from Flint in the first 14 minutes of the second half. The 6-5 freshman didn't make his first basket until just over five minutes were left, although he did finish with 11 after intermission. No. 5 Louisville and No. 13 Temple met in the second game of the 7Up Shootout doubleheader at Orlando Arena.
