BERKELEY, Calif. (AP) -- Jason Kidd scored 25 points and had five assists to push his season assist total to a Pac-10 record 249 as No. 20 California held off Oregon 82-73 Thursday night. Lamond Murray had 26 points to help Cal (20-6, 11-4 Pac-10) reach 20 wins for the 12th time in school history. Oregon (9-15, 5-10) lost for the fifth straight time to Cal, which handed the Ducks their worst beating of the season, 81-61, in the last meeting Feb. 5. Kidd's assist total topped the previous conference mark of 247, set by Arizona's Russell Brown in 1978-79. He got the record-breaker on a feed to Murray with 4:06 remaining in the first half. Down by 15 at halftime, the Ducks began to close the gap with Orlando Williams hitting four 3-pointers and Jordy Lyden adding two more during a 20-9 run to open the second half. Four straight free throws by Williams, whose 22 points led the Ducks, brought Oregon within 58-56 with 8:22 left. But Anwar McQueen hit a 3-pointer to start a 13-5 burst that gave Cal a 71-61 lead. A fastbreak layup by Murray capped the run and gave the Bears a 10-point lead with 5:10 left. Oregon got no closer than four points the rest of the way. Kidd scored 16 points in the first half as Cal took a 41-26 lead.
