BERKELEY, Calif. (UPI) -- Safety Eric Zomalt returned an inteception 35 yards for a touchdown late in the fourth quarter Saturday to lift California to a 24-20 win over 13th-ranked Arizona. Arizona's Dan White threw a pass along the sidelines for Terry Vaughn who got his hands on it, but was hit hard by Ike Booth causing a deflection. Zomalt picked off the defelction and ran untouched down the sidelines for the winning score. Zomalt, who had another interception earlier in the game, clinched the victory by breaking up an Arizona pass in the end zone on fourth down in the last minute of play. The Golden Bears (6-4, 3-4 in the Pacific 10) snapped a four-game losing streak as they rallied from a 20-0 halftime deficit. Earlier in the season. California rallied from a 30-0 deficit to defeat Oregon. The loss dropped Arizona to 8-2 overall and 5-2 in the league. White, who missed last week's game due to a sprained right knee, split time at quarterback with tailback Chuck Levy, who was an emergency starter last week for Arizona. White threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Terry Vaughn and Levy ran two yards for a score as the Wildcats built a 20-0 halftime lead. White went 12 for 25 for 175 yards and one touchdown with two interceptions. Dave Barr threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Chris Carpenter to draw California within 20-7 in the third quarter. Doug O'Brien kicked a 37-yard 10 seconds into the fourth quarter and Lindsay Chapman had a short touchdown run with 10:18 left to pull California to within four points. Barr went 20 for 33 for 263 yards and one touchdown with two interceptions.
