Subject: Postdoc: Interactive case memories at York (UK) (salary correction)
Sender: ai@A.GP.CS.CMU.EDU

Unfortunately due to incompatabilities between mail systems (or
more precisely the
fact that pounds sterling is not a standard ascii character) the salary
scales for the postdoc position at York may be scrambled on some machines.
The correct salary scale is:
pounds sterling 14,317 to 18,294.
pounds sterling may have appeared as =3DA3 on some systems.

The original text (with the =A3 taken out) follows:

------------------------------------

                        UNIVERSITY OF YORK
                      RESEARCH ASSOCIATESHIP

            INTERACTIVE CASE MEMORIES, STRATEGIC PLANNERS
                      AND SIMULATION SYSTEMS

Applications are invited from postgraduate computer scientists with research
experience in software-engineering, human-computer interaction, or knowledge
based systems. The research associateship is funded by Engineering and Physi=
cal
Sciences Research Council and Northern Electric Distribution Ltd and is
available for 3 years. The research is concerned with the use of Interactive
Case Memories to act as knowledge mediators between a complex system based
around one domain of knowledge, and a group of users from a different
knowledge domain. In this case the mediation is between the technicians
simulating electrical power supply networks and strategic planners whose
knowledge is focussed on financial, managerial and customer service issues.
The project will also involve EA Technology Ltd as supplier of the network
simulation tools. Particular expertise in case-based reasoning would
be most welcome. The salary will be in the 1A scale between
(pounds sterling) 14,317 and 18,294 depending on age and experience.

The deadline for applications is 23rd August 1996. Informal enquiries
may be made to Professor Michael Harrison (01904 432732) email:
mdh@minster.york.ac.uk or Dr Andy Dearden (01904 433376) email:
andyd@minster.york.ac.uk. Four copies of a curriculum vitae
should be sent to: The Personell Officer, University of York, Heslington,
York, YO1 5DD, UK.
