Over the past few years, I have seen several television programs on
education and artificial intelligence that showed children constructing
various robots and machines out of LEGO. There seemed to be a fairly
useful set of sensors, motor controllers and actuators for lights, etc.
I have asked LEGO dealers in my area about this and no one has ever
heard of it.

Were these LEGO items specially constructed for groups like MIT or are
they generally available? I would appreciate any information on
pricing, availability and what type of computer interfaces are used
(e.g., serial port). I am using Amiga computers so PC- or Mac-based
expansion cards would not be too useful to me.

I am new to the network so I hope that this is the correct forum for
this type of question :-).

Cheers,

Bill
