	    VII INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE


      "Intelligent Systems Applications in Industry and Business"

					       October 17 - 21, 1994
					        Monterrey, Mexico

The Seventh International Symposium on Artificial Intelligence will be held 
in Monterrey, Mexico on October 17-21, 1994.
The Symposium is sponsored by:
The ITESM (Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey) in 
cooperation with the International Joint Conferences on Artificial 
Intelligence Inc.,  the American Association for Artificial Intelligence, the 
Canadian Society for Computational Studies of Intelligence, the European 
Coordinating Committee for Artificial Intelligence, the International 
Association of Knowledge Engineers, the Sociedad Mexicana de Inteligencia 
Artificial, and IBM de Mexico.


Papers from all countries are sought that:

(1) Present applications of artificial intelligence technology to the 
solution of problems in industry, business and related areas;

(2) Address the issue of transferring the AI Technology;

(3) Describe research on innovative AI techniques to accomplish such 
applications. (Theoretical papers will be considered)
 

Areas of application include but are not limited to:

manufacturing, automation, control  systems, planning, design, production, 
distribution, marketing, human resources, finance, stock exchange, 
international business, environmental control, underwriting, legal aspects, 
communication media, decission support, digital system design.


Technology transfer includes but is not limited to:

strategies for introducing and institutionalizing AI technology, human 
resources development in AI, justification of AI projects, cooperation 
programs, sociotechnical impact of AI technology.


AI techniques include but are not limited to:

knowledge-based systems, expert systems, neural networks, fuzzy logic, 
automated reasoning, computer vision, robotics, natural language, cognitive 
systems, multimedia, knowledge engineering, computer-human interfaces, 
tutoring systems, machine learning, special architectures, parallel 
architectures

The paper should specify the area and technique to which it belongs. Papers 
will be evaluated with respect to their originality, correctness, clarity and 
relevance. Use a serif type font, size 10, single-spaced with a maximum of 10 
pages (single column) or 8 pages (double column). Include your e-mail, fax 
and phone number. Papers in postscript files will be accepted by electronic 
mail. Conference papers must be presented in site by the author/co-author. 
The best papers will be published in a special issue of Integrated Computer-
Aided Engineering Journal.

Critical dates: 
Papers must be received by March 19,1994.
Authors will be notified of acceptance / rejection by May 20,1994.
A final copy camera ready for publication in the Conference Proceedings, is  
due by June 24,1994.
