PURPOSE OF THE SYMPOSIUM
This Symposium is intended to attract individuals who are actively
engaged both in theoretical and practical aspects of intelligent systems.
The goal is to provide a platform for a useful exchange between
theoreticians and practitioners, and to foster the cross-fertilization
of ideas in the following areas:
   * Approximate Reasoning
   * Evolutionary Computation
   * Intelligent Information Systems
   * Knowledge Representation and Integration
   * Learning and Adaptive Systems
   * Logic for Artificial Intelligence
   * Methodologies (modeling, design, validation, performance evaluation).
In addition, we solicit papers dealing with Applications of Intelligent
Systems in complex/novel domains, e.g. human genome, global change,
manufacturing, health care, digital libraries, etc.

If possible, the title page should be submitted via email (in plain text)
to <mzemanko@mitre.org> to facilitate submissions processing.

Acceptance Notification: May 1, 1994  (Regular Session or Poster Session)
Final Paper:             July 1, 1994


PUBLICATION
Papers accepted for Regular Sessions will appear in proceedings published
by Springer Verlag in Lecture Notes in AI series or another major publisher.
Poster Session proceedings will be published by Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
