Subject: Caution w.r.t Sears

If you have a Volkswagen car of any make or a Volkswagen engine in your car

DO NOT HAVE THE OIL FILTER REPLACED AT SEARS.

The instructions on the filter are not the same as on the Volkswagen filter.
They do not tighten it enough and as a result your oil filter gasket can
blow. Mine did. Sears replaced the filter of course, but my engine is
ruined. I am trying to recover some money from Sears for this.
I understand that there is no problem with other cars, but I would exercise
caution if you had any make diesel car. ( I think Sears service is
generally reliable but there are some things they just do not know.)
