Subject: Recommendation: M&G Auto

Included below are the responses I received to my post about M&G Auto.
I went to them and found them to be very competent and straightforward,
and went to great pains to make sure they didn't do anything that
wasn't necessary. They even told me that my rear defroster wasn't
working because of a bad switch and told me how to replace it myself
since it was easy and saved me the labor costs! I've used them many
times since, and my opinion of them has only improved.

I highly recommend them.

very convenient, not as cheap as Bruno. sometimes things go wrong
shortly after taking my car in, but that
happens when I visit many places. They are so convenient that I'll keep
trying them until I am sure
they are doing something funny or get less convenient.

I took my car there once, and will definitely take it there again -- the
guy who helped me took time to explain what was needed and why, the
price was reasonable as far as I can tell, and because of his manner and
his patient explanations, I trust him as much if not more than I've
trusted any mechanic.

Hi Julio.

I've been to M&G for sometime. Mike (the M) is a VERY decent,
intelligent, and explanatory guy. Before he opened his current shop,
he used to work out of this home, and he would actually drive me home
when I dropped off my car, and would pick me if I needed to come get
it! He used to work as a Dealership Mechanic (I forget which one -
Toyota, I think) but they forbade him to operate on the side, so he
went into business full-time with a partner and opened up a nice big shop!
I've never talked his partner (the G) so I can't comment on service
from him.

I'd say his prices aren't any cheaper than anywhere else (same
labor costs) but he won't screw you for things you don't need, and
he'll be up front about what needs to be done. He's also very fast,
I've found; currently he doesn't have the same long waiting list as Bruno's
usually has.

I heard about him from friend of a friend who had known Mike for years
and relied on him for MANY MANY cars.

Besides this, he's just around the corner from me, so now I can
just walk home after dropping off my car ;-).

And tell him Howard sent ya'!
