I worked in a Ford dealership for a few summers, and drove and washed a lot 
of Escorts, but generally very short distances.  They ran about the same as
most economy cars, such as Rabbits, Omnis, etc, just a generic car without
as much power as you would like.  I've heard they get more power from the
engine lately, which might make it a livable car.  The dealership sold a
lot, and I think others did too, but if I remember Ford was really holding
the price down on Escorts then in order to be building/selling/servicing
something, if even at a very low profit.  Also, maybe you should know that
the Mercury Lynx is almost identical to the Escort.

Grenadas, in comparison, are very undesirable cars.  They where the last
really old Ford design, big on the outside, small on the inside, poor
handling, slow, etc.  The name Greneada also appeared on a slightly
reskinned Fairmont, which didn't last very long. This was a much better car
than its late 70's ancestor, but only relatively.
