[BTW, since you asked for help from the CS dept. it would be good to forward
our collective wisdom to bovik@q.cs, so that they are classified and recorded
for posterity. I imagine they'll be converted to messages format someday.]

Our (front) brakes were 'caught' during a State inspection at Sears, in Century
III Mall. ['84 Dodge Charger, 70K miles, (generic, not 2.2)]
They replaced both pads, but only 1 rotor. (they said we had 'enough to pass'
on the other one.) I've been told that the pads can crystalize if the brakes
are heavily used during the first 200 miles or so.

They haven't worked the same since, but we feel free to bother any Sears we
happen to drop in on to have them looked at to see what they think, for free.
Even if you can't count on their work, their warranty works.

This time (assuming we go there [unlikely]) they'll probably want to replace
the rotor on the other side.
