I received the following: Paul's VW -- 4 recommendations German Motor Werks -- 3 recommendations Billco -- 1 recommendation VW Haven -- 1 DISrecommendation We've tried Paul's and German Motor Werks before. It is tedious, however, to get to Paul's just for an inspection. But it probably a good bet for major work. When we went to German Motor Werks for an inspection a few years ago, they required that we replace the brake rotors even though they should have passed (that year at least) and they were expensive. Needless to say, we haven't been back. Recently, we've been using M D Auto Works, 916 Penn Ave. But the last few times we've gone there our bills seemed a little high, at least for our Acura (could be something to do with the age of our cars ;-]). Since no one has suggested a "great new place" that is nearby, we'll go back to M D for its convenience and reasonable price. They're straight-shooters and pretty good. Now that I also have a '95 GTI VR6, I take both cars to the dealer, Billco Motors in Wexford. I've been very happy with them. When I'm interested in a repair involving used parts, I'll consider Paul's. BTW, as far as VW dealers go...I didn't like Day VW in Monroeville, and McGee in Dormont was in a serious decline before they closed... If you do go to Billco, ask for either Greg Pietrone or Cindy Dobson in service, 935-4666. Hope this helps.
