Here is the results from my post to the cs.general bboard asking about
auto mechaincs. I decided to opt out of using Lifetime Auto and try my
luck with Hess Exxon across the street, despite the negative review in
Bovik's database.

Also, Stan Chen reported to me that he has used Hess for two
inspections, an oil change and one repari and things seemed to go ok.

For Honda's and Acura's the best mechanics are at Matta Motors in
Glassport.
They also sell parts wholesale and retail, but only for Honda's and
Acura's.

I can tell you that the most often recommended repair place by far
is Bruno's in East Liberty. The second tends to be M&G (I think)
in squill, and also I've had good luck with Constantin Garage, which
is located (literally) in the SEI garage.

I think I'd tend to do Bruno's for anything big, and Constantin for
everything else (they've fixed my A/C and also my brakes). Bruno's has
replaced a CV joint (actually the whole axle) and I've had office mates
that have had good experiences as well. (The biggest plus to
constantin
is that it's well within walking distance of CMU.)

Neil,

I've been using Constantine Garage on Henry St. right across from
the SEI - Corky (the owner) has been reliable and very honest.

Craig.

I have heard one anecdotal bad story about the Exxon, but really don't
have any hard data.

If you find any other good ones, let Harry know.

$ phone bruno
Bruno's Garage

You'll have to look in Harry's mail or (gasp) the phone book for the
Constantin
garage #.
