re: Escort-  Having rented them on two separate occasions, I can
        give them a grade of only a c-.   They are transportation,
        but not particularly good.  they shake, rattle, and are
        terribly underpowered.  This means that they are always
        downshifting (on automatics anyway) on mild hills, and
        in passing.  Since the lower gear is so low, the engine
        then runs at very high revs, consequently poor gas mileage.
        I got between 20 and 30 mpg.  Expect a 50% drop in mileage
        if you drive 60 instead of 50.

re: Insurance-  Prudential has competitive rates (within 4$/yr of
        Temple, etc) but very good service, and transportability
        (eg if you move to another state)
