Subject: Re: Car Repairs

Just a bit of car repair advice from someone who spent many years at GSIA.
(No advice on bodywork - I never had a need).

Many people at CMU use Bruno's in East Liberty - be careful, there are 2
bruno's in the phone book. Bruno's is a little place in an alley behind
a small side street that is one way in the wrong direction. They do not
advertise at all - not even a listing in the yellow pages. Yet, it can
take 2 weeks to get them to see your car. Their word of mouth
reputation is outstanding. Their reputation is that they are cheap and
honest - I haved heard mixed things about their technical ability.

For my last few years in Pittsburgh, I used T.E. Fall's in Homestead.
He usually took me right away, relatively cheap and very honest. He
gives loaner cars when he has yours. Don't be offended if he's impolite
to you... he's that way with everyone.

As far as the local places in Squirrel Hill, Forbes&Murray Gulf does
moderate work at fairly high prices. Very convenient location is the
one positive.

The place at Murray and Beacon (used to be Sunoco, but they switched to
???)... well... I wouldn't even buy gas from them. I have had very
negative experiences with them and others have had similar experiences.
If I were not posting this publicly, I would say even stronger things
about them.
