I have been taking my car to University Exxon for a few years now. 
(Used to be Doug's or Hess'?  The one just across the bridge.)  I 
have always been happy with their work, but last week they did 
something great.

My Neon had an oil leak.  I took it to Univ Exxon.  They said, it's 
the head gasket, we'll have to remove the head, it's a big job, $900. 
And, they said, maybe I should contact the dealer and see if it is 
still under warranty or something.

"Or something?"  It's not under warranty, but I like all my dollars, 
so I called the dealer anyway.  They said, yeah $900 sounds about 
right, but bring it in, maybe Chrysler will give us some 
"assistance".  Welfare from an auto manufacturer?  But I took it to 
the dealer, and Chrysler paid for the repair.  It cost us nothing. 
So I am impressed with Chrysler (although you could take a more 
cynical stance on this silent recall) but also with University for 
being straight.

BTW, there is a great web site that gives interesting details on 
Neons, including an "easter egg" that makes the "Service engine soon" 
light flash a code giving the detailed cause for the light going on.
