My original message on general:

From: Jennifer Kay <jennie+@IUS5.IUS.CS.CMU.EDU>
Sorry, this is a fairly frequently asked question, but bovik doesn't seem
to have the answer, so I guess it's fair game:

How do I send e-mail to bitnet?? The address I have is:
	soandso@soma.bitnet

I've tried using addrmap but it doesn't help (in fact, I've tried
addrmap on some of the examples in the man page and they don't seem
to provide the same answer anymore.)

I'll forward answers to bovik.

Thanks, Jennie

I am not sure whether

          soandso@soma.neusc.BCM.TMC.EDU

is the Arpa address. You can tri it. Good luck! Qingming

soandso%soma.bitnet@vma.cc.cmu.edu should work. I have been using this
to communicate with friends over bitnet.

Hi Jennie,

I don't know about soma in particular, but whenever I need to send mail
to someone@somehost.bitnet I send to someone%somehost.bitnet@vma.cc.cmu.edu.
I'm not sure if that is really what you are supposed to dom but it has
worked for me every time (so far).

Try

soandso@soma.bitnet@BITNET.CC.CMU.EDU

Addrmap gave me an address of that form for soandso@iassns.bitnet, I
don't know what is different about soma.
