Subject: 2400 baud modem for $126 total

I recently got a "Zipper 2400" (made by Prometheus) from Priority One
Electronics, one of the big mail-order places in BYTE. It's a success.

  Where - Priority One, 800-423-5322.
  Cost - $119 + shipping = $126. >1 year warranty costs more.
Delivery - It came in about 10 days by UPS
Connector - It has a female RS232 connector and doesn't come with a cable.
Software - It came with an IBM PC disk with a clone of CrossTalk XVI. Ho hum.
How it looks - A bit bulky, neat flashing lights, tinny sounding speaker.
Does it work? - The basic 2400 baud dialup works. That's all I've tested.
Commands - Hayes commands + 3 numbers in nonvolatile memory. Convenient.

I like it. I recommend it. It's very cheap.
