Subject: Mallorca again

About 10 of us went to Mallorca last Saturday to celebrate my roommate's
b-day. The experience was - incredible!

Having already been there once, I kinda knew what to expect. And we
tried to heed people's warnings about the amount of meat you will get.
But we never expected THAT much meat!

I ordered a mixed grill special, my roommie ordered the lamb chops,
someone ordered the filet mignon, and others ordered ribs. We literally
had pounds and pounds of meat on our table. I think the waiter said
that their steak was 2 and a quarter pounds or something like that...

As expected, the paella was kinda bland. The two people who had it
thought it was ok, but wasn't impressed. Again, the mariscada was much
better. I still think the mariscada agillo was the best.

We had the chorizo (spanish sausage) again, and it was good as expected.
The fried calamari was ok but not spectacular. I don't think people
really liked the salad, especially the pickled white (chinese)
asparagus. It was kinda mushy.

We ordered red and white sangria. I really liked the white sangria,
having never had it before. I think I even like it better than the red.

They served a really good brandy cake to us for the b-day thing, at no
charge to us. The trade off is that whatever you didn't finish, they
took back. A couple of us also had Spanish coffee, which was alcoholic
and served to us in giant brandy snifters. It was GOOOOOOD. Perfect
complement to the brandy cake.

We really couldn't figure out how Mallorca could survive as a
restaurant. It was giving us tons of food at incredibly low prices.
But we are not about to argue...

All in all, we had a great time at Mallorca. Only complaints were that
it was too cramped, and too dark (hard to read the menu and see your
food). But definitely one of our favorite restaurants in Pgh.
