Hi--

About 14 months ago I started shopping for new speakers. I bought a set of
Bose Acoustimass speakers (single woofer, two satellites) from the Appliance
Store on sale. However, after about a week attempting to tune the speakers
by shuffling them around the room and fiddling with my equalizer, I still could
not get sound I was happy with.

So I called out to Cambridge Sound Works and ordered their Ensemble speakers
(two woofers, two satellites). I then connected both sets of speakers to my
stereo and ran A/B tests. Even before I tuned the speakers to my room, the
difference was noticable: the Ensembles sounded much better than the (more
expensive) Boses. A bit of experimentation, mostly in woofer positioning,
improved the sound even more. I promptly returned the Bose stuff and have
never regretted it.

One thing to note is that the speakers have no published maximum power ability.
I have played these things VERY loudly while DJing, and they still sound
awesome. People are always surprised that those little boxes can produce so
much sound of such clarity.

Since that purchase, I have also bought The Surround for Dolby Pro-Logic. Also
excellent speakers; the sonically match the Ensembles so everything balances
nicely.

Do date I have been very satisfied with both their products and their customer
service. The phone folks are very knowledgable and helpful. The speakers were
sent out on overnight delivery. But above all, the hardware is the best you
can by for about twice the price. I have no hesitation in highly reco

I have no experience buying non-CSW equipment (such as amplifiers, CD players,
etc.) but I have noticed that their prices are no better than you can get at
Silo, and not as good as from other mail-order shops.

To my recollection, their number is 1-800-FOR-HIFI.
I have a bunch of catalogues at home (just got another one this week!) which
you can have, if you'd like to stop by my office (on Craig St) Monday. Just
let me know via email.

Enjoy!
