Subject: shortwave radio store

I was looking for a shortwave receiver for a gift, and I found place that
had more than one choice. Called Whiteside Electronics, it is out in Penn
Hills, 6415 Saltsburg Rd. 793-6667. This place seems to be like many other
radio shops I have seen in other cities. The "showroom" is a cluttered
jumble of radios and parts. He had several different shortwave receivers,
and I noticed a few scanners and a couple of ham transceivers. Plus he had
a bunch of CB antennas and accessories. Also there were a couple of racks
of new and old ham related magazines and books.

Anyway he had what I wanted, at a reasonable price. I suspect that mail
order would have been less expensive, but since I did not know exactly what
radio I wanted, the ability to test it right there in the shop was worth any
additional cost.
