Subject: VCR Prices --- Buy from NY

I bought a VCR recently (Panasonic PV-3270 3 Heads, On screen Prog) from
Bi-Rite in NY. Even with the exorbitant shipping and handling charge (27.95)
the price I paid is about $100 below the prevalent price in Pgh (I paid
$285 for the VCR + $28 s/h). My advice to anyone contemplating a purchase
of a VCR is 1)Buy a machine built by Matsushita (sp), i.e. Panasonic, GE,
Quasar, etc , since they make 75% of the VHS VCRs they know what they are
doing and get the highest ratings. 2)Decide what model you want (this
can be challenging with the 2-3 model changeovers per year) 3)Call around
the mail order places in NY to get the best price. There was about
10% variation in the prices I received from the NY guys.
