There are definitely many more films available in VHS.
It is rumored (I haven't checked) that Beta provides slightly
better sound quality, while picture quality is about the same.
Despite this, VHS seems to have a large and increasing lead
in sales.
My recommendation would be VHS; if you go for Beta, you risk
getting stuck with an obsolete format a few years down the road.
