I would avoid Video-o-Video on Liberty in Bloomfield. I recently
brought my vcr in to be fixed. They asked for a $20 deposit and
then told me the next day that it would cost $159 to fix the
VCR. Since I could buy a brand new comparable VCR for $175-$200
with a warranty I decided that this was bogus, and offered to
sell them the broken VCR. The most they would offer me was $10
for the VCR. I told them that since I gave them a deposit of $20
for the VCR repair that this would amount to me paying them $10
to take the VCR off my hands. I ended up deciding that it wasn't
worth it to spend my time arguing and cut my losses for $10. I then
went and bought a brand new VCR which I am very happy with.
After a little research I found out that the average cost of repairs
for a VCR (including labor and parts) is ~$80. For all I know
the people at VoV could have fixed my VCR for $50 and were ripping me
off. They sure didn't seem to have a "The customer is always right",
or "Were reasonable" attitude. I bought my new VCR at Sun. Its a
mitsubishi and comes with a full 1 yr waranty. I purchased an extra
2 years of warranty for $65. This includes parts, labor, and even
the freedom of bringing it in for a full head/interior
cleaning/greasing/belt tightening. Best of Luck with your VCR,
