Subject: info about audio tapes

Harry,

Here is the results of an inquire I have made about audio tapes.
Add them to your db if you find it worth (as it is informations
that won't be valuable for a long time, I guess).

I just bought a case of TDK SA90 (hi bias Cr02) at the Appliance Store on
Penn Ave. for 1.99 each, 19.99 the case of 10. That seems like a pretty good
deal to me, but I don't buy too many cassettes...

Olson Electronics on Rt 22 in Monroeville has TDK SA 90 tapes for
about $1.90 each. This is the best price I've found anywhere.

I usually get them out at Century III (either Camelot Music or Nat'l Record
Mart) when they're on sale. Last month Camelot was selling a tape case with
either 8 or 10 (I forget) TDK SA90's for $20.  This may no========================================================================

  You can buy 10 TDK SA90s with a free cloth-covered 15-tape carrying
case for $17.99 when they are on special sale in various local music,
audio equipment, and appliance stores. Call around to see who is
presently running one of these sales. Try The Appliance Store.

Philippe,

As far as I know,
the Kelly and Cohen chain of stores
and the Sound Stores (part of the Appliance Store chain)
occassionally have sales on TDK SA90s.
Olsen Electronics also carries high quality tapes for reasonable prices.
(Consult the phone book for a location near you.)

Usually, Kelly and Cohen is cheapest.
Prices range from 1.69/tape to 2.19/tape.
Kelly and Cohen also sell Maxell tapes,
which are arguably as good or better than TDKs.

They say that buying tapes in bulk through mail order is the least expensive.
If you or someone you know decides to get a order together,
please let me know.
Also, please send me what you find out (or a summary).
We can't get Bovik at the SEI :-(

P.S. There is an article in a recent Consumers Report magazine on tapes
that you may be interested in. It's in one of the last two or three issues.
