Did you look under "toy & hobby shops" ?

I think I saw them once at toys 'r us or kaybee (do they have those in the
malls around here; maybe it's just a midwest memory).

Also, I have a little paperback from the '60s called Rockets for Amateurs or
similar.  It has recipes for building your own solid & liquid engines.
Pretty informative.

Are you familiar with Japan's launches lately?  They've put up a couple
things this year, for under a couple $million.  The control bunker is built
out of 2x4's & has a phone, period.  But they've been successful.
