I had heard about Cambridge Sound Works from a New Yorker magazing ad, but had forgotten their number. After getting a copy of their catalog from a friendly sort in Robotics I called and was told that their primary business was manufacturing speakers at moderate prices. Didn't have anything along the lines that I was looking for. My father who is a musican by trade and an audiophile. He bought some of their speakers a few years ago and found them to be very excellent as well as a great deal. Recently he bought some more and uses them as part of a surround sound setup along with all sorts of cool home theater stuff. I listened to his system alot while I was at home over break (I'm pretty into audio myself) and I thought it sounded as good as many of the more expensive surround sound systems I've heard in the stores. I own Cambridge Soundworks Ensemble speaker system (2 satellite speakers and 2 subwoofers). I am quite happy with them. I intend to purchase surround sound and center channel speakers from Cambridge Soundworks in the near future. I have their Ensemble II speakers. I am happy with them. They are not as efficient as bigger, more expensive speakers; so they are best for small or medium sized, enclosed rooms. One review I read said there is a dip in its response near 120hz which is at the high end of the bass unit and low end for the shelf units. I've not compared enough speakers to notice this.
