Here are all of the replies that I got to my request for nice resorts
with golf courses within a few hours of Pittsburgh:

Blake,
Seven Springs or Hidden Valley have excellent golf courses and other
facilities. I've enjoyed both these places especially around Fall.

Blake,

I have not been to them but...
Seven Springs, Laurel Valley, Ligonier area has several very nice courses
and is a resort area. Need to do some calling to find out exacts.
Lakeview Resort in Morgantown WVa has a very good reputation, both for its
	golf course and amenities.
Oglebay, Wheeling WVa is a park/recreation area with several golf courses.
The Speidel course is among the top 50 public courses in the US. I
know there are accomodations, but I've never actually checked them
out (they are not *actually at* the golf course).
I'd appreciate a copy of whatever you can find out. I'll see if I can find
more if you like (this off the top of my head).

Blake --

I can make two recommendations:

1) If your friends are *really* rich, they could go to The Greenbriar,
deep in West Virginia. This is a five-star resort, with at least two
world-class courses. It has hosted Ryder's cup matches. I was
fortunate enough to be able to play one because my wife's company held
a business function there. This place is really southern and really posh:
all the porters are black (which made me uncomfortable) and you're not
supposed to be in the main lobby without "appropriate attire."

2) Somewhat more reasonably: in less deep West Virginia, Oglebay. This
is a state park resort just outside of Charleston. There are two
courses, Crispin and Speidel. One of these (I can't remember which) is
on the level of a very good public course; that's the one I played. When I
played, I was in a foursome with 3 guys who had driven there from
Michigan, so they thought it was pretty good. The other course is
world-class, designed by Robert Trent Jones. (Your golfing friends
will know who that is.) I didn't get to play it. Lodging is very
reasonable and pleasant, food is good. A great time, I highly
recomment it. The lucky dogs.

I've never been, but I've heard Greenbriar in WV is nice.

Ogelbay (sp?) in the West Virginia panhandle has two golf courses, a lake,
and some kind of resort. Although probably further than you wanted, Hilton
Head, South Carolina is the golfer's mecca.

I heard Lakeview resort is real nice. I've never been there but I've
heard lots of nice things about it. It's located somewhere near Morgantown, WV.
Good Luck!!

Tim
