I had knee surgery in late 1980 here in Pittsburgh. My surgeon's name
was Dr. Janeway; he works out of Shadyside Hospital and his office is
in the medical arts building on Aiken. I thought he was competent and
conservative -- that is, he didn't rush into surgery right away; he
waited to see if it was really necessary. Since my surgery, I've heard
of other people who had problems similar to mine who had arthroscopic
surgery rather than the more common type. I've wondered if maybe that
wouldn't have been possible with mine. (It certainly would have been
less traumatic and recovery would have been much faster and easier.)
This is the only (admittedly minor) reservation I have about my
experience with Dr. Janeway; and I've never bothered asking him whether
or not this would have been possible. So I would recommend him.
