Personal bias: I prefer the former to the latter, just on the basis that the former has more medical training, can prescribe, and my family has a slight history of eye trouble. Then again, I'm marrying a physician, so it may just be bias. That said, I use Christie & Scott, located on Penn Ave. just by St. Francis hospital; they are in the medical offices on the first few floors of the parking structure. The senior partner of (Christie/Scott) has retired, and they've gotten a new physician, who's been with the practice for perhaps two years now, perhaps less. I saw this new physician in the past year, and was happy with the results. Being new, he's a bit overcautious, which suits me just fine. This office is not particularly cheap: I think it's O($60) for a checkup. My fiancee went to Eye & Ear, which is over by Presby and is part of the UPMC network.
