I an currently (June 1989) looking for a new physician for general health
care.  I posted a query on the CS-General bboard asking for
recommendations.  Specifically, I stated that I wanted a physician who is
highly competent, respects the patient's intelligence (i.e. not one who
controls all the information and just gives orders), is not so overbooked
that appointments always slip and interactions are always rushed, and whose
office is in the general area of Squirrel Hill or Oakland.

I received many useful replies.  Here is a summary, arranged in
