We've been very happy with our pediatrician. We go to Dr.
Karamchandani, one of 4 doctors in a group called Pediatric & Neonatal
Associates (I believe she is one of 2 females out of the 4). They
are based in West Penn hospital, and also have an office in Greentree
(which is where we usually go). You can reach the West Penn office at
683-6700, Greentree at 922-5250.

Over the time we've been with this group (2 years) we've dealt with
each of the doctors, and have liked them all. One of them is always on
call for emergencies, and they take turns asking dumb questions each
morning from 8:00 to 9:00 (most pediatric groups offer this kind of
service, and we have come to really appreciate it). The two offices
are attractive and the doctors and staff are very friendly. We've
always had to wait a little before our appointments, but it has never
been too bad. They have very strict rules about being late (the second
time they ask you to find another doctor), and that seems to help.
Their rates are reasonable, and we've had nothing but pleasant
experiences dealing with them. If only they were a little closer ...

Nathaniel,

We love Heather's doctor, Dr. Bass. Lynette can tell you more about him and
his two colleagues Dr. Jane Brecht and Dr. Wolfson. Carl Ebeling and some
others seem to really like Dr. Block (the woman) at the family health center.

We like A. S. Runco, on North Highland (I think). Doesn't talk down to you.
Works in West Penn and also has a private practice (to which we take Ian).

We use Pediatric Associates, on Liberty Ave near Baum. There
are four doctors from whom to choose. We use Dr. Glick. You only
deal with the others if you call in during the morning phone-in
hours, or in case of emergency.

Nathaniel,

We use Dr. Jane Breck of Drs. Bass, Breck and Wolfson. They are located in
Oakland in the Iroquois Building, right next to the George Aiken. She
is real good with kids and is always willing to answer questions.

We liked Dr. Francis A. Esposito very much. His office is at
715 N. Highland Ave., close to Sears in East Liberty (phone 441-2000).
He is very competent and skillful. I think
he also works at the Children's and Shadyside Hospitals.
Every day except Sunday between 8 and 9 am he gives free advice over the phone.
He is a bit expensive, though, with a visit which includes some kind of a shot
costing around $32.

Nathaniel-

I take Mark to Dr. James N. Tucker, a member of Allegheny Pediatrics.
(Martha D. John and Mark A. Koenig are the other two members.) I've
only taken Mark there twice (since he's a healthy 11 week old) but I've
been very happy with Dr. Tucker. He is very personable, explains
things in laymen's terms, and is a father himself. Another nice
feature of their practice is a calling hour from 8:00am - 9:00am EVERY
day to answer your questions. They charge $30.00 for the first visit
and $22.00 for later visits. They are in the St. Margaret Medical Arts
Bldg., 100 Delafield Rd., Aspinwall. Phone: 784-1040.

Drs. Michaels, Mermilstein, Paul and Dubner are
4 pediatricians in Oakland. (N. Dithridge St.)
I use Dr. Michaels for my 8 month old, and being
born in Pittsburgh, Dr. Michaels was also my
pediatrician. He is excellent---can't say it
enough. I feel very comfortable with him. Each
of these doctors has their own call in hours. They
answer their own phones during those hours.

I started out with Drs. Koenig, Tucker, and John,
but didn't feel comfortable calling them. They
always made me feel like I was asking dumb
questions. And rushed me, also.
These doctors are in fox chapel, in st. margarets
doctors office.
