Ellen,

Hope this is not too late. We used "Allied Heating and Cooling" to
replace our humidifier. They provided reasonable service, but when the
humidity in the house failed to rise above 20%, they tried to avoid
their responsibility and had to be pushed to do something. They claimed
that "it can happen", depending on the house, and that the humidifier
(their own brand) is not faulty. My objection was that, since they
recommended that product, they had to inform me of the possibility.
The humidity scale on the humidistat goes up to 60%, so 20% is not
resonable. After a lot of fighting and some bad diagnostics on their
behalf, they added an apparatus (labor on them, hardware on me), which
brought the humidity to 30%. At this point I gave up.

If I had to do it all over again, I'd take somebody else. I would also
request an explicit estimate of the expected maximum level of humidity.

Good luck.

Roni
