Mail-From: local user C410DA81 at 5-May-82 0518-EDT Date: 5 May 1982 0510-EDT From: Donna Auguste at CMU-10A Subject: Re: mci telephone service To: David Klahr david, i subscribed to mci service for about 7 months, last year. getting a line was rarely a problem, even though i lived in a heavy-usage area (los angeles, california). the problems that i had with those folks were (1) billing errors & inconsistencies, not receiving my bill on time, not having payments properly credited to my account, and (2) very poor customer service when trying to resolve questions. nine times out of ten, i couldn't even get through the busy line to talk with a customer service representative at the mci office. now i subscribe to sprint, a similar service. i have had no administrative problems, and have had all of my questions promptly answered. the drawback, in my opinion, is that sprint lines are of a poorer quality than mci's; they have apparently not learned the fine art of echo-suppressing, so there are long delays sometimes between speaker-listener, and you often hear everything you say echo back to you on the line. i am usually calling northern california from pittsburgh; when i use the sprint service to call areas closer to pittsburgh, the problem isn't as pronounced. donna a.
