Anwar --

GA Dice did two jobs for me in fall 89. I feel these guys didn't serve
me well and, in fact, significantly overcharged me. Beware their
quotes. They use "worst case" and don't adjust if the job proceeds
with no hitches. Their quoted $1500 turned out about $500 over a
reasonable charge for the 20 man-hours, plus parts & equipment,
actually expended.

Also be prepared to wait for weeks with no communication from them,
even if they say work can begin next week. The office is run by an
Armand Ignelzi, who's about to retire and apparently doesn't give a
damn about serving the customer. The younger fellow who actually did our
work, Geiselhart, talks a lot. While he's very impressed with himself,
his work seems no more than average.

The main thing they did was install a new water line, and for that they
have a clever method to avoid digging up your front yard. The trick is
to bore a hole from basement to street main inlet box. So feasibility
depends on geometry. Expect a muddy basement if you follow this route.

In addition, they charged $100 to reseat my toilet, simply because I
had requested a quote. Originally, they told me the job would take
about half an hour. Geiselhart did it in 20 minutes. At $34/hr, plus
parts, that's a neat 400% above their normal profit.

If you locate a competent plumber who shows integrity, please let me
know. I've recently seen ads claiming RotoRooter is now in the
plumbing business. That might be worth checking out.

Anwar,

Try Joe Corriols - 371-6396. Reasonably priced, decent guy. Has done quite
a bit of work for us; if it doesn't work he comes and fixes it til it does.
Lives at home, has a mom who answers the phone. Use the words "emergency"
and if/when you connect you can tell him Cary Lund and Pat Morgan
recommended him.
