Some eyewitness reports on electricians:

I had Howard Fagen install an outdoor floodlight. This involved a new
circuit, an indoor switch, and the outdoor floodlight. It was about
$200 which the electrical inspector thought was high. He also had to
come back and redo a couple things. I was pretty unhappy with the
whole experience.

I had JB electric completely rewire my house (except for the
floodlight that Fagen had just put in). The inspector just looked at
it today and said he did a good job. The guy's name is Jim Bradley
and he works alone. It took him about 9 days over a two week period
to do the place. He's a nice guy to hang out with; I almost didn't
mind being stuck in the house for 2 weeks (MCN helped too).

If you hire Bradley, be sure to tell him you got his name out of the
database. He remarked that he'll remember to treat us computer people
extra special since we all talk to each other through Bovik.

I also got an estimate for the rewire from Cliff Caplan. He seems to
know his stuff. I would have hired him but Bradley's estimate was
slightly lower.

A tip: the estimates will probably say X dollars after first day of
work, Y dollars on completion. After the Fagen experience, I made
sure to tell Bradley that "on completion" meant "after it passes
inspection."
