Options on the south side.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I got my futon at Carlisle (sp?) Mattress on Penn Ave in the Garfield area
(around the 5000-ish address area, close to Kranick's Bike shop).

They had good prices and make them on the premises. I think I paid under
$100 for a queen-size.

I think Options, on the South Side, is a pretty good bet. Reasonable
prices, lots of different frames.

I got mine from Options, 20th and Carson, and I am quite satisfied
with them. in fact I both two, one as bed, the other I use as couch.

I got mine from Options, on the South Side. I've been totally happy
with mine.

I highly recommend Options on East Carson Street on the South Side for your
futon. They are very nice. I bought my futon there about 4 years ago. They
delivered it and set it up. I bought one which was pretty nice . . pretty
thick and all cotton filled. It's normal that after awhile, the center caves
in a bit. So, after two years, I called them and they picked it up, took it
apart, and inserted some sheets of foam on both sides of the center. They
brought it back the next day and it looked like new. And they only charged
me something like $15.00 for this. This was a couple of years ago, so they
may be charging more for it now. But I have been very happy with my futon.

Options on the SouthSide is good - they're in the phone book. For a
queen size basic futon with a simple frame you'll pay about $230.

They also deliver, which is extremely nice if you have a small car...

The best place is "Options" on the south side. 20th and E. Carson, 481-7322.

"Options" on East Carson St. (Sorry I forgot the number, but you
shouldn't have any problem in finding it in the yellow pages).

I went looking to buy a futon in the Fall of '92. I looked at a place in
Shady Side, on S. Highland, and they seemed a bit expensive. I then went
to Options on the South Side. They always have an ad in the In Pittsburgh,
usually a few pages in. Their prices were reasonable, and they had a 90
days same-as-cash financing deal. I ended up buying from them, and I have
been quite happy with my futon. They even had free delivery and setup.
Also, the futon cover I bought was slightly damaged, and they had no problem
with me exchanging it for a new one.

I bought my queen size futon and frame at Options, down on the south
side. Cool store. Much better product and much better price than
Pier 1. They fabricate the mattresses themselves (not sure about the
frames). Plus, they'll deliver it and put it together right in your
home.

Check out the futons with some polyfill in them, they seem to "hold
their shape" better, i.e. they don't get as big of "butt dents" as do
the all cotton ones. When I bought mine I think it was a choice
between a 6" all cotton and an 8" with some polyfill.

The "swing frame" design is cool. One person can operate it
completely from the front. This is what I bought. It's a little more
expensive than the others, though. All told, I think I spent about
$450 or so on the frame and mattress.

The ultimate futon store is Options on Carson St., Sathside.
They make their futons in Homewood. You can get a reasonable
futon/frame set for $200 - $300. They have adds every week
in In Pittsburgh.

I bought my futon there!

Options on Carson St. in the South Side is great.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
"Options" on the south side is where I got mine. I didn't
shop around, but the prices seemed a little on the high
side, but I have no complaints against the quality and
the service.

In particular, I felt that the frame I bought is useful, but
cost about $100 on top of the cost of the futon, which to me
seems a little on the high side.

They always advertise on the 3rd page of the "In Pittsburgh"
weekly magazine.
