Subject: Sach's Management

Yes. The house I live in now used to be
leased through Sach's. The person who we had to deal
with was a real pain. The water heater broke in winter
and we were told to take cold showers because they
were good for us. It was fixed 2 days later though
(she had to call the owner first). The other thing
to do is write down any conversation you have with them
that has a date by when they or you will do something.
The old lady we had to deal with forgot most things.

The problem doesn't seem to be with just the
way they treat the tennants but with how they treat the
owners as well. The owner of our house changed to
a different agency because of the way Sach's dealt
with everything. I know he had trouble
getting the security deposit transferred from them to
the new agency. I imagine tennants have simliar problems.

Thanks for the reply. I am really concerned because Ray (the lady) said
that we should be approved three days ago and that we should be able to
sign a lease today (Friday). Well, I still haven't been approved and Ray
keeps putting off calling the necessary people. Has Sach's been that
	slow with you?

I think they ran things pretty quickly with me. This is what happened:
Mr. Sachs showed me 2 apts on 5th Ave, and I liked the MarkWalt. He told me
he would mail me an application, but happened to have one in his car. I
mailed it to him, along w/ $399 for the deposit. A few days later, I got
a contract, which I signed and mailed with another $399 for the first month's
rent. There was a strange situation with the lease at my current apt, so
he called me to straighten things out. It was a very smooth process.

Maybe they can't get a hold of your current landlord? The only other thing
I can think of is time for a credit check.

He let me move some stuff in before June 1, but said they would start
charging if I tried to move in before May 30.

to me it is more like she is dying on the phone.

Yep, that's more like it. :^)

Rae is pretty much a droid. She knows how to get a lease signed,
collect rent, and pass messages to and from the owner.

Repair requests frequently get dropped. There is no followup. We've
more or less given up on getting minor things fixed.

On the other hand, the management company doesn't particularly seem to
be out to screw you. There's simply no initiative.

I'm currently renting from Sach's, so don't pass on my name...

I've been renting from them for two years. They're awful.

Firstly, they're next to non-existant except when they want us to do
something. We've had repairs go for more than a year without anything
being done.

Secondly, Rae, the person we have to deal with, is extraordinarily
rude, bordering on nasty. She seems to have something against anybody
younger than 80.

Thirdly, they recently gave our names and phone number out to a moving
service when it came time for the house we were living in to be sold.

I will never rent from them again.

I rent from Sach's management and have found them to be pretty helpful;
I've never really had any problems with my apartment, and the people in
the building seem to be happy with them and they are known for prompt
service. They seem pretty honest about advantages and disadvantages of
places. The woman (Ray) who works in the office is weird. For
instance, I wanted to borrow the phone to call a bank down the street
and she yelled that I could just walk.

A friend of mine is going through a terrible time with Sachs. If you
have to deal with them, at all costs avoid "Rae" or "Ray" (a rude
forgetful woman, by all accounts).

Briefly, Sachs management is Hell to deal with. Rae Sachs tends to be
extremely nasty and it is impossible to get any work done on the House
in less than 4 months time.

AVOID SACHS MANAGEMENT!!!!!!!

If you want gory details, I could give 'em. Basically, they give 0
maintainance, 0 security (3 break-ins this month), and are unresponsive
to complaints.
