I'm a fanatic for *rubber* foam matresses (not nylon or synthetic
light foams). The ones I'm used to are grey, heavy rubber foam, with
small holes through for ventilation. They usally need some extra
cloth cover, so that sweat won't damage the rubber (it'll get yellow
	and brittle).

I don't know anything about sellers. Good luck

I slept on one for 8 years because my parents bought them for my brother
and myself. I ***hated*** it with a passion. Now, I'm on a waterbed
and happy as a clam.

The foam mattresses last just fine, but sleep on one before buying it.

Subject: Re: foam mattresses: any good?

I've had a mattress and box spring from Pgh Mattress for four years
now, and they're basically in as good shape as when I bought them.
However, my mattress does have springs. I would say their beds are as
good as any name brand.

The firmest Pgh Mattress 10-yr-warranty model is not as firm as some
name brands (e.g., a Sealy Posturpedic "hotel sleep system" mattress).
I don't know if their more expensive models are firmer, but if you need
a really hard mattress, you might want to stick with name brands.

A good rubber foam mattress should be pretty solid and heavy.
One of the things that bothers me with springs is that you can't
sink your elbows in without bumping either a spring or the
	absence of one :-).

Anything that has the consistency/weight of normal kitchen/bath
sponges is way too light. It's probably synthetic (nylon ??) foam,
and it will become hot and uncomfortable, besides being flimsy.

My matress was about 6 inches thick, laid directly on top of
a (perforated) plywood board. Best bed I ever had. Of course you
may prefer the soft kind that develops bumps and hollows :-)

I have a foam mattress from Pgh Mattress Company. I've been sleeping
on it for 4 years now, and I am very happy.

I have the mattress on a custom built platform bed, and i use
their top-of-the-line matress. I beleive that the mattress support
is as important as the mattress as far as comfort is concerned.

One big plu of a foam mattress is that they bend so you can get them
around corners, or even fold them in half to put in a car.
