I HIGHLY DISRECOMMEND Paul Sauers, Duffield St?, Pittsburgh. The guy
initially gave me a low estimate and then (unfairly, I think) hit me
with a high bill when the job was done. I've been fighting with him
about payment for a couple of months, and his work wasn't even that
good. See Bovik for the gory details.

I had my house trim painted by Carl Mackiewicz this summer, and was very
happy with the work he did.  He's married to one of our staff members here;
for more information, finger patty@ius2.cs.cmu.edu, or call

The Hollers (several mentions in the bovik database) are still the best if
you can get them. The old man died a couple of years back, but the sons
are still at it and still do fine work at reasonable cost.

I had a reasonably good job done by Master Brush. Their phone number is
481-2155. The guy's name is Henry Weber. He comes with a team of 3 other
painters. Their work is reasonably neat, quick and thorough, and they
don't make a mess. Their price was also reasonable. Several of my friends
have also had work done by Henry et al, without complaint.

I don't recommend them without completely reservation because I'm a very
fussy person when it comes to painting, and, if I had done the job myself,
I would have done a better job. However, I don't know if *any*
professional painters can afford to do that kind of work.

Good luck!

We had our house painted ~2 months ago by RA Frey Construction. Ron is
a general contractor and we've had him do many jobs for us. He did the
scraping and contracted out the actual painting. Ron is very good -- he
always does an excellent job. You may end up paying more for him but, if
you can afford it, he's worth it.
I think it cost ~2 grand for the house and garage (We have a HUGE house with
lots of windows -- it's the windows that make it expensive). If you want
to check out his work you can drive by our house.
1017 Sheridan Ave in Highland Park (between Wellesley and Hampton)
the house is red (it used to be blue)
