She worked with Moddy and I for over 8 months in buying a new house and in selling our old one. I'll spare the horror stories here but besides the things one would normally expect from an agent (ie., looking at listings, touring one around, preparation for offers and closings) Maureen is very knowledgeable about building codes, electrical and heating, house construction and the costs and degree of difficulty for repairs. She teaches courses in Real Estate for agents-to-be and for first time home buyers in Pittsburgh. Being a native Pittsburgher and in real estate for over 10 years she often has leads on houses that are not on strictly the market, or are about to come on the market. The house we bought was off the market, for example. She also knows a variety of roofers, electricians, plumbers and painters, and will give an accurate price/performance/reliability assessment forr each.
