Subject: DISRECOMMENDATION: Jerry Valenti
Date: Tue, 26 Oct 93 20:38:57 EDT
From: Barbara White <bjw@SEI.CMU.EDU>

Jerry (Jerome) Valenti was highly recommended in Bovik's
files. However, I've been unable to get him or anyone from
his company to return my phone calls. I've had four calls in
to his line for the past three days. No reply.

I got hold of a real person today and she asked me to call
back since I was calling so early in the morning (it was
8:45am). Since then, I've phoned 3 more times but have been
unable to get the real person again (only the answering
machine).

I assumed that I had copied the number incorrectly and that I
was calling the wrong person or something, but I verified it
with the listing in the yellow pages. I was calling him.

Perhaps Valenti is so busy that he no longer needs (or
appreciates) new business. Or perhaps he's so busy that he
doesn't think it necessary to answer the phone. I don't know
-- regardless, his answering message should indicate his
general availability. Failing that, he should hire
additional people to cover his phone so that his customers
are not left hanging while the clock ticks down on their
deadline to have a house inspected.

And for the record, I left two return phone numbers with each
of my phone messages. I indicated that both of my numbers
are backed up with voice mail that will activate after 2-5
rings. I was available at either phone for most of the past
3 days and I checked my messages often...no reply.

If he's this unresponsive, I have doubts about his
reliability otherwise and have elected to use a different
inspector.
