Dear Harry,

I wanted to let you know about my experience with Apts Unlimited.

We rented a townhouse from them for 1 year in Swissvale. When we arrived,
the apt was filthy and only the carpets had been cleaned. Also, several
things they had promised my wife months before would be fixed, weren't.

However, we documented the condition of the apartment and had them agree not
to charge us for cleaning when we left (we had them sign the agreement).
They eventually fixed the garage door. Once our sewer backed up on the
driveway and they got a maintenance man out right away to fix it.

We also negotiated with them to replace the burner pans on the stove which
were beyond cleaning and have an extra set of keys made (they only gave us
1 set). We were able to deduct the cost of those things from the rent.

Fortunately, we didn't have much reason to call them as nothing really went
wrong with the apt while we were there. Our neighbors indicated that they
were not prompt in responding to requests, and our limited experience with
maintenance requests supported this.

When we moved out, I was somewhat apprehensive about getting our security
deposit back and wondered whether they'd honor their agreement not to
charge us for cleaning on move-out. Well, we didn't clean a thing when we
left and they returned our entire security deposit.

So while they are not terribly prompt in responding to requests, they did
honor their word and didn't try to keep our security deposit. For what its
worth...
