Article 2578 of cmu.cs.general:
From: Bill.Ross@IUS3.IUS.CS.CMU.EDU
Subject: Lumber Yard Roundup
Date: 1 Feb 91 11:42:43 EST

I recently posted a message asking what were the best
lumberyards in the area. I called several and asked them
to quote on the following order:

3 sheets 3/4" ply smooth 1 side (AC)
	25 8 foot 2x4 #2 grade
	5 16 foot 2x10 #2 grade
	22	16 foot 1x2

For the 1x2 I wanted something better than #2 but not
necessarily completely clear. Four of the yards could
    fill the order:

	George Hall	$402.30
	Paul's Lumber	$417.45
	Harmon's	$565.00
	West Elizabeth	$252.80

West Elizabeth was cheaper on all the items but the
plywood. They were also willing to custom mill the
1x2 to produce a grade between #2 and clear, and to
give me a good price. The other yards could only
supply clear white pine at a much higher price.

I haven't picked up my order yet, but other folks
have told me that I can expect Elizabeth to do
    a superior job.

    Bill
